Since always, Prigorje has been always covered with vineyards and almost every house had its own plantations of old varieties – traditionally, it was “kraljevina” (meaning “kingdom”).
For a number of years Prigorje resisted the penetration of varietal wines, but as the wine production began to seriously develop across Croatia, so the positive changes began happening in Prigorje. The first varietal plantings in Prigorje were often greeted with mockery, but the number of interested people was higher and higher and new plantations were springing up every day. The result of that is today's 2.5 hectares of vineyards owned by family Polovanec in which there’s a total of 14 planted grapes varieties.
